We took over the shop in April 2004, before this we both lived and worked in the “real world” with normal lives and normal jobs. On facing redundancy for the third time we decided to up-sticks and try something new and the rest, as they say, is History.
Taking over the shop in April 2004 was a real eye opener, but with a sense of humour, huge enthusiasm and a massive sense of achievement we threw ourselves into running the shop and involving ourselves in village life.
A complete refit followed in November along with an expansion of lines to include gifts and jewellery. Since then we haven’t stood still, taking part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning each September and introducing the annual Late Night Opening before Christmas 2004 and the Christmas Fair in November 2005. Last years events included a Tasting Day in July in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind and a Christmas Food and Gift Fair in November for the Church and the School which was very successful for all concerned. What's in store this year? Watch this space!
Buying “Local” wherever possible, we are constantly on the lookout for local talent. We currently stock work by local artists, jewellers and woodworkers, as well as locally made jams, chutneys, wine and beer but there is always room for more.
You are sure to find the ideal gift to take home from your holiday, not to mention that extra special something for tea... |
